2024年3月20日,马来西亚理科大学(USM)槟城分校通过国家先进IPv6中心(NAv6),成功举办了一场主题为“利用人工智能(AI)和数据转型实现可持续净零未来”的对话研讨会。此次活动得到了英国皇家工程院的支持,并在政府、产业界、非政府组织(NGOs)及学术界的协作进程中具有里程碑意义。
此次会议也契合了槟城州政府的政策方向,此次研讨会吸引了来自各方的60位参与者,共同探讨如何借助科学进步与技术创新来保护环境。
槟城州负责基础设施、交通及数字事务的Zairil Khir Johari行政议员出席了活动并发表开幕致辞。他强调了州一级可持续发展目标(SDG)数据的重要性,并指出高质量的数据统计对于衡量和监测SDG进程不可或缺。
Zairil Khir进一步表示,槟城州政府坚定支持数据转型,并高度关注人工智能(AI)、高级数据分析等先进技术的应用。这些技术不仅能够揭示我们复杂环境中的深刻洞见,更可助力制定基于数据的战略,以应对气候风险、增强抵御能力。他说道:“这些前沿技术让我们能以前所未有的方式洞察复杂的环境问题,并通过数据驱动的方式构建策略以降低气候风险和提高韧性。”
此外,他还呼吁各组织充分利用科技手段改善地球环境,造福后代,并倡导在槟城加强合作,吸引更多创新资源,优化技术应用。
本次研讨会上,来自不同行业的特邀嘉宾就气候变化减缓、跨行业合作挑战、机遇以及如何运用科技解决紧迫的环境问题和推动可持续发展进行了深入交流。
会议期间,“去碳化”被普遍认为对公共和私营部门都至关重要。
因此,为了有效实施战略并妥善应对复杂的环境挑战,政府、产业界和学术界间的数据共享与协作显得尤为关键。

USM PENANG,20 March 2024-Universiti Sains Malaysia(USM)through the National Advanced IPv6 Centre(NAv6)recently marks a significant milestone in its collaborative journey involving government,industry,non-governmental organizations(NGOs),and academia by organising a dialogue session entitled‘Leveraging Artificial Intelligence(AI)and Data Transformation for a Sustainable Net-Zero Future,’supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Aligned with the Penang state government's agenda,the programme has brought together 60 participants from the government,industry,NGOs and academia with the aim of exploring innovations and technologies to safeguard the environment through scientific advancements.
The event was graced with the presence of the Member of the Penang State Executive Council(Infrastructure,Transport,and Digital),Zairil Khir Johari.
In his officiating address,Zairil Khir emphasised the critical importance of Sustainable Development Goals(SDG)data at the state level,recognising the necessity for high-quality statistics in measuring and monitoring SDG progress.
He underscored the state government's commitment to data transformation,highlighting the pivotal role of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence(AI)and Advanced Data Analytics.These technologies not only offer profound insights into our intricate environment,but also enable the formulation of data-driven strategies to mitigate climate risks and enhance resilience.
“These technologies not only provide unprecedented insights into our complex environment,but they also empower us to formulate data-driven strategies to reduce climate risks and foster resilience,”he said.
Zairil Khir also urged organisations to harness the power of technology for the betterment of the planet and future generations,advocating for increased collaboration,innovation attraction in Penang,and resource optimisation.
The programme featured guest speakers from diverse industries who deliberated on climate change mitigation,cross-sectoral collaboration,challenges,opportunities,and strategies for utilising technology to address pressing environmental concerns and drive sustainable development.
Throughout the session,it became evident that decarbonisation holds paramount importance for both the public and private sectors.
Therefore,the exchange of data and collaboration among government,industry,and academia are essential in implementing effective strategies and addressing complex environmental challenges.
